Many trails crossed at Oyen; it is said that by 1915 from a high vantage point one could see the prairie trails leading into Oyen like the spokes of a wheel. The Oyen & District Historical Society was formed to preserve and promote local history. The many buildings and displays showcase the rich history of the area. Embark on a journey to visit our pioneer roots.

This beautiful 100 year old Ukrainian Catholic Church was saved from demolition and moved to Crossroads Museum. All this was captured on film and can be seen on Cabin Truckers! The church was built in Richdale Alberta in 1914 as St. Peters Roman Catholic Church. In 1950 it was moved to Oyen where it was then utilized as the Ukrainian Catholic Church Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
